Privacy policy

Effective November 7, 2026

We collect as little as we can. This page explains what information is handled when you visit this site, and by whom.

What we collect

You don't need an account to use this site. There are no forms, comments or memberships, and we never ask for your name, email or phone number.

The site currently runs no analytics, advertising or affiliate tracking code, and it sets no cookies of its own.

Storage in your browser

When you switch languages, we save that preference in your browser's local storage (key: wwg_lang) so the site opens in your language next time. It stays on your device and is never sent to us. You can clear it in your browser settings at any time.

The national park pass calculator stores your selected parks and travelers after the # in the page address so you can share the result. That part of the address is not sent to the server.

Third-party services

Hosting: the site is hosted by Vercel. Like any web server, it automatically logs requests (such as IP address, browser type, time and page) to run and protect the site. Vercel handles these logs under its own privacy policy.

Fonts: fonts are served by Google Fonts, so your browser sends a request to Google when it loads them.

Videos: articles show only a preview image until you press play. The YouTube player (youtube-nocookie.com) loads only after you click.

Maps: map pages load base maps from OpenFreeMap and the map library from cdnjs, so your browser requests data from them when you open a map. The winter road conditions page loads chain control data directly from Caltrans (cwwp2.dot.ca.gov).

Links: we link to official sites such as the National Park Service and to our social media accounts. Their privacy policies apply once you leave this site.

If anything changes

If we add analytics, an email newsletter, advertising or affiliate links in the future, we'll update this page first and explain what they do and what choices you have.

Children

This site is written for adult road trippers. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights and how to reach us

Because we don't keep information that identifies you, there's usually no personal data for us to look up or delete. If you have questions about this policy, or want to exercise rights you have under local law, contact us below.

Data deletion

This site doesn't store personal data about visitors, so there is usually nothing to delete.

Our social media publishing tools only manage our own accounts and publish our own content. They don't collect or store any data about third-party users.

If you've been in touch with us (for example by email) and want that data deleted, email wheelsworldguide@gmail.com and tell us what to delete. We'll handle it and reply within 30 days.
